General Info:

Dr.Dinesh Ramaswamy is a well-qualified and accomplished Surgical Gastroenterologist with special expertise in Gastrointestinal oncology, liver and pancreatic cancers, colorectal surgery/proctology and advanced laparoscopic surgery.

He set out on his ambitious path to become a surgeon in the prestigious All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), New Delhi, India's premier medical institution. He was also trained in laparoscopic surgery at AIIMS at one of its sophisticated skill course with certification from Germany. He was also awarded the Diploma in General Surgery degree by the National Board of Examinations a year later.

He worked as a senior resident at JIPMER, Pondicherry after completion of his degree for a period over 2 years. He gained vast experience in dealing with a variety of surgical problems there. He was fortunate to have worked in a surgical unit known for treating gastroenterology problems with endoscopic and laparoscopic methods apart from open surgery.

In pursuit of a structured and rigorous training programme in Gastro surgery, he joined M.Ch. (surgical Gastroenterology), at GB Pant Hospital (MAMC), New Delhi, which is a referral centre in North India for all gastroenterological and hepatopancreatobiliary diseases, especially cancers. He honed his skills here in laparoscopic and open surgeries relating to colorectal and hepatobiliary and pancreatic surgeries. Minimally invasive cancer surgery for upper GI tract (Esophagusand stomach) was routinely performed at this institute. Hence he was also trained in laparoscopic oncology surgery. Apart from this he was also trained in very complex operations like pancreatic necrosectomy, liver resections, whipples operation etc.

He has presented his work in various national and international conferences and also through various publications in international journals. He was awarded the fellowship of Indian Association of Gastrointestinal Endosurgeons for his expertise in laparoscopic surgery.

He worked in various institutions like Apollo Liver transplantation & HPB surgery unit, Chennai, SIMS hospital, Chennai and Medanta, the Medicity, Gurgaon as a consultant performing various surgeries including the specialities of GI oncology, HPB surgery, advanced laparoscopy, and Colorectal/proctology. He is vastly experienced in dealing with abdominal surgical emergencies. He is currently practising at Vijaya hospitals, Vadapalani and also consults at his clinic at Porur.
